I had a recurring dream as a child about a mummy my father said used to live in his attic when he was a child. I never saw its face in the dreams though. I'd always wake up before it got that close to me. To get to the attic, you had to go through a long dark closet and there was only a dimly lit light bulb hanging halfway in. All the way at the back of the closet was the door to the attic. It was terrifying as a child. Years later, a friend of mine made up this character called the Greeper. It is a skulking, elusive and vicious creature that prefers dark spaces. For some reason, I tied the mummy and the Greeper together into one being.
Yipes... mummy in the closet. That's a monster that doesn't often frequent that particular haunting place, but I can imagine how disturbing the thought of that potential monster would be. You did a great job translating your fear into this particular piece here, sodeni - very chilling indeed. Love the muted colours, really makes the greeper here stand out even more...
Thank you for voicing my fears. As per usual, I regret delving into the dark that is my psyches. Yet, I cannot resist the ever-lasting pull of horror. I am mostly grateful of my surprising willpower at not staring at this for another hour, until the light reigns in. I have, most unfortunately, spent another night in fearing the subtle, yet not, things that hide within it. I suppose that is what you get when you where bottle-fed horror movies. Before you begin to question my educated message, I will inform you I am an unprofessional writer. I give you a hat at your bravery, and I do quite feel you deserve the first prize, this coming from a mouth whose eyes have seen many entries. Of course, the over-used, but gratifying saying: Great job
Keep up the great work, eh?
